Dodge City Legend News


The Legend got back into USBL action Thursday night, taking on the Brooklyn Kings at the Civic Center. The visiting Kings led most of the first three quarters, but the Legend, led by Chris Sockwell's 29 points, were able to gain control in the fourth stanza to earn a hard-fought 92-86 victory.

Sockwell went 12 of 14 from the field, and five of six from the free throw line in addition to grabbing eight rebounds. David Bell scored 15 points, while Brian Lubeck scored 11 points and pulled down 13 rebounds.

The Kings (3-4) were led by Kyle Williams and Abdul Mills, each with 18 points.

The USBL-leading Legend (10-2) now gets set for their east-coast road trip and a pair of games at Gary against the Steelheads. The team returns to action at the Civic Center on June 8 against the Oklahoma Storm.





Twenty-four hours after scratching out a 81-80 victory over the Kansas Cagerz at Salina, the Legend were back in action Wednesday night at the Civic Center, taking on the Oklahoma Storm. Led by hot-shooting David Bell, Dodge City downed the Storm 101-93 in a USBL Midwest Division matchup.

Bell's game-high 27 points included six three-pointers on nine attempts. Brian Lubeck scored 17, and Chris Sockwell had 14. Kyle Davis anchored the Legend defense with seven blocked shots. Joe Adkins let the Storm with 20 points.

Dodge City now leads the USBL with a 9-1 record. The Legend plays their third straight game Thursday, taking on the Storm at Enid.



The Dodge City Legend got back into action with a hard-fought 122-109 win over in-state rivals, the Kansas Cagerz, Thursday at the Dodge City Civic Center. Dodge City was led by Brian Lubeck with 21 points and nine rebounds, Kyle Davis scored 18 points and had nine boards, and David Bell scored 18. Eight Legend players scored in double figures.

Lionel Davis paced the Cagerz with 23 points, while Larry House scored 19.

The Legend remains undefeated (5-0) atop the USBL standings. Dodge City faces the Oklahoma Storm Friday night at the Civic Center, followed by a trip to Salina to take on the Cagerz on Sunday afternoon.


Legend Beats Delaware for 150th Franchise Win
Forward Chris Sockwell didn't play in the Legend's win Monday night due to injuring a finger on his shooting hand, and he admitted he played a little timid for the first three quarters of Tuesday's game against the Delaware Stars. But Sockwell was able to step up in the fourth quarter and help the Legend beat the Stars 101-94 to record the franchise's 150th win. Read the Daily Globe Story

Dodge City Stops Albany for Second Win
The Legend improved their record to 2-0 with a 100-87 win over the Albany Patroons Monday at the Dodge City Civic Center.

Dodge City was led by center Steve Castleberry's 22 points and 11 rebounds. Brain Lubeck and David Bell each scored 18, and forward Kyle Davis added 14 points.

The Patroons were led by Corey Hightower with 19.

The Legend are in action again Tuesday night as they face the Delaware Stars at the Civic Center.


Legend opens season with win over Delaware
The Dodge City Legend had only been together for three days and five practices before their season opener Saturday night against the Delaware Stars, so team chemistry could have been a problem.

The Legend instead made it a key to find the open man on offense and strong defense to record a 105-82 rout to open their 2007 campaign with a win. Read the Daily Globe Story
