NEW USBL FRANCHISE WILL RUN
WITH THE "BIG DOG"
DODGE CITY- Dodge City Basketball,
Inc. the organization bringing professional basketball to Western
Kansas, announced today that KYBD "Big Dog 98.1" will
be the home of Dodge City basketball excitement when the United
States Basketball League season opens in April.
The Dodge City team, who will
hold a contest to select a team name this month, will play their
home games at the Dodge City Civic Center. All games during the
30 game regular season schedule, both home and road will be broadcast
live on the FM station.
"We are so excited to have
Big Dog as a member of our team." General Manager Tom Nelson
said after Wednesday's press conference to announce the formation
of the franchise. "We have a strong signal that will bring
our games to fans across the western half of the state and we
have a top notch broadcasting team to tell the story."
The team also introduced its
first player in franchise history. Tywan Meadows played at Dodge
City High School, Dodge City Community College, Idaho State University
and Fort Hays State University, earning All Conference honors
at every stop.
