MANNY DIES SIGNS WITH LEGEND
The Dodge City Legend of the United States
Basketball League have come to terms with former Wichita South
High School and Kansas State University star Manny Dies.
|
The 6-9, 235-pound forward was a rookie
in the Continental Basketball Association this winter with the
Idaho Stampede. He was a seventh round draft pick of the Connecticut
Pride of the CBA last fall and was traded to Idaho in October.
Dies finished his career at Kansas State's
all-time leader in blocked shots and ranks 22nd on K-State's
all time scoring list. He led the Wildcats in scoring as a senior,
averaging 10 points and six rebounds a game to earn Honorable
Mention All-Big 12 honors. As a junior, Dies was All-Big 12 after
averaging 16 points, eight rebounds, and two blocks a game and
shooting 55 percent from the field.
"Manny was one of K-State's best players
of the 90's." Legend General Manager Tom Nelson said. "He
learned a lot this winter in the CBA and gives us a solid inside
player that will be expected to step in and contribute immediately."
Dies was one of the state's best high school
players at South and exploded onto the Big 12 scene during his
junior season.
"There were games when he carried
the Wildcats." Nelson continued. "He has the talent
to be a tremendous USBL player."
